AMD To Release Three New Radeon HD 7900 Series SKUs
AMD is set to release three new Radeon HD 7900 series SKUs including the Radeon HD 7930, Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and Radeon HD 7990. The Radeon HD 7930 will fall in below the current HD 7950 with a new core codename of “Tahiti LE”, while the HD 7990 will be a dual GPU behemoth aimed squarely at NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 690. The HD 7970 GHz Edition will most probably replace the current HD 7970 in an effort to compete with the GeForce GTX 680.
We’ve heard that the Radeon HD 7990 has been delayed until August which is not surprising considering the amount of power and heat that have to be condensed into one card. The other two cards should be released during the upcoming months, with the HD 7970 GHz Edition arriving during the course of June and the HD 7930 shortly after that. Prices are not yet known, but due to the small price-gap between the HD 7950 and HD 7870 GHz Edition we could see price cuts throughout the low to upper-mainstream range of cards.
