NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti Arrives Next Month
For a while now, AMD has controlled the sub-US $300 mark with their “Pitcairn” based Radeon HD 7870 and HD 7850 graphics cards. The long-awaited NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti is set for launch in the middle of August at a similar price-point, somewhere between the 13th and 19th of the month. Based on the same 28 nm “Kepler GK104” core as its bigger brothers, the GeForce GTX 670 and GTX 680, the card is to feature either 1,152 or 1,344 CUDA cores and 1.5 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 192-bit wide bus. Clock speeds are not yet known.
Previous Kepler launches have been on either a Tuesday or Thursday, so the card will most probably launch on the 14th or 16th of August:
- GeForce GT 640 – 1st May – Tuesday
- GeForce GTX 670 – 10th May – Thursday
- GeForce GTX 680 – 22nd March – Tuesday
- GeForce GTX 690 – 3rd May 2012 – Thursday
The card will be powered by a single 6-pin PCIe power connector, and will feature a very short PCB – shorter than the already-short PCB of the GTX 670. Sources: SweClockers, VideoCardz
