Custom Designed Quad Kepler GK104 Graphics Card Coming?
If the GeForce GTX 680 or even the dual GPU GeForce GTX 690 aren’t quick enough for you, one of NVIDIA’s AIB (add-in board) partners just might have the solution for you which will blow every other single graphics card right out of the water. The card is not an NVIDIA design and was shown to a very select few behind closed doors at Computex 2012.
The card in question is a quad GK104, 6,144 CUDA core beast, the likes of which has not been seen since the ill-fated 3dfx’s Voodoo 5 6000 graphics card (pictured below). None of the specification have been finalized, but the TDP is expected to be in the range of 600 to 800 watts. An educated guess would put the VRAM at 12 GB, and as GDDR5 doesn’t output much heat, it may very well be running close to the stock GTX 680 speed of 1,502 MHz (6,008 MHz effective). The GPUs will probably need to be downclocked in order to not only keep power draw but also heat output to a minimum.
It is very possible that the card is only a tech demo and will never see the light of day, but should it go into production it will most probably be in very limited quantities – much like the ASUS Mars card. With the GeForce GTX 690 priced at US $999, don’t expect this quad GPU behemoth to come in at anything short of US $2000. Source — Hartware.net; Images from KingpinCooling.com and Hardware.Info
