AMD’s next generation “Trinity” family of APUs based on “Piledriver” micro-architecture has three A-series chips lined up with unlocked multipliers and loads of overclocking headroom. With an estimated price of US $100 to $150, the A8-5600K and A10-5800K come in at a much lower price than Intel’s cheapest multiplier unlocked CPU, the Core i5-2500K at US $216 according to latest pricing.

AMD’s desktop products manager, Adam Kozak, has said that the CPUs can reach up to 6.50 GHz when cooled using liquid nitrogen – an impressive feat considering the price. Combined with the large overclocking headroom, the chips are said to be between about 25 percent and 37 percent faster than the previous “Llano” based APUs released earlier this year.

The AMD A10-5800K has Turbo CORE of up to 4.20 GHz without overclocking and a 4 MB cache, and the integrated graphics processor has 384 stream processors running at 800 MHz, while the A8-5600 has a stock Turbo CORE of up to 3.90 GHz and once again 4 MB of cache. The graphics processor features 256 stream processors running at 760 MHz, and both chips have a TDP of 100w.

A further two APUs in the range have been announced, the A10-5700 which runs at up to 4.00 GHz with Turbo CORE and the A8-5500 which runs at up to 3.70 GHz with Turbo CORE. Neither of these APUs has an unlocked multiplier, but like their bigger brothers they sport 4 MB of cache. Both of the chips come with a lower TDP of 65w. Source — TechWorld
