Chistian Ney Closes In On DDR3-4000
Forget your extreme overclocking RAM rated at DDR3-2800, Swiss overclocker Christian Ney from ocaholics has once again raised the bar by beating his old record of 1937.9 MHz (3875.8 DDR3 effective) with a new world record at an incredible 1950.3 MHz (3900.6 MHz DDR effective).
In order to reach this speed, Christian Ney went through nearly a dozen sticks of G.Skill F3-2666C1-4GTXD RAM to find the one golden stick, and used relaxed timings of CL14 14-14-36. The APU used had a particularly strong integrated memory controller which unfortunately died during the session making this a true suicide run. The setup used was as follows:
- AMD Llano A8-3870K APU
- Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H motherboard
- G.Skill F3-2666C11-4GTXD RAM
- 3DFX Voodoo3 2000 PCI graphics card
- Corsair AX1200i PSU
- “Random” SSD
- PCI SATA2 card
Cooling was taken care of by the following:
- Otterauge Revision 4a CPU pot
- KingpinCooling LN2 memory pot
- GELID GC-Extreme Thermal Compound
