The final verdict

There is no doubt that the drive can perform on the levels advertised, while the consoles can’t make full use of the drive speed, it’s at least not going to be a bottleneck of any kind. The user base that have machines with 20Gbps USB ports is growing and soon this will be standard on virtually every machine. The user base that’s capable of using this drive may have been small in 2021, but in 2022, with new platforms (Z690/7XX, AMD AM4 refresh /AM5 ) all featuring high speed interconnects, this drive just makes far more sense in 2022 than in 2021. The drive is fast and the price appropriately high for the capacity. So it’s definitely for those with deep pockets. However, if you happen to be one of those people, few drives will deliver like this one can.
