AMD Vishera-Based FX Here Till 2013 And Beyond
AMD’s latest range of enthusiast processors, the Piledriver-based “Vishera” core FX CPUs which were recently released, will be with us until at least 2014 according to leaked slides. The slide shows that while the company has plans for new APUs in both the Mainstream and Essential lines in 2013, the current range of FX processors will carry Piledriver into 2014 and possibly beyond. The first range of FX processors, the Bulldozer-based “Zambezi” range, lasted only a year before Vishera arrived which could mean that the next range of FX CPUs could use an all-new micro-architecture.
On the APU side of things, the roadmap shopws that third-generation Mainstream family “Richland” APUs will replace the current Trinity range and will be available in 2013. Richland will combine Piledriver CPU cores with “Radeon 2.0 cores”, which could be in indication of a move from VLIW to GCN. Lower down the range, the “Kibini” range of APUs will replace the current Brazos range and will use all-new “Jaguar” cores. Source — Domanimhaber
