Colorful recently launched a new brand, ColorFire, for their AMD Radeon graphics cards. First shown at Computex this year, the ColorFire Radeon HD 7870 XStorm graphics card has only just been dissected and pictured. This card is BIG. So big, in fact, that it comes with a support bracket for workstation cases. The card is also visually appealing with a black PCB and white cooler.

The HD 7870 XStrom comes with a moderate factory overclock of 1,050 MHz and 1,250 MHz (5,000 MHz effective) for the GPU core and memory respectively, up from the AMD reference speeds of 1,000 MHz and 1,200 MHz (4,800 MHz effective). 2 GB of GDDR5 memory is available over a 256-bit bus, the standard amount for a Radeon HD 7870. The card is powered by a surprisingly powerful voltage delivery system comprising of twin 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors and an 8+1+1 VRM which can be upgraded by a 4-phase add-on card which plugs into the back of the card and sports its own heatsink.

As mentioned, the ColorFire Radeon HD 7870 XStorm is cooled by quite a good looking cooler – a dual-slot, single fan heatsink which covers the entire length of the card. Heat is transferred to an aluminium fin-stack via five 8 mm nickel-plated copper heat pipes, which is in turn cooled by the single center-placed 92 mm fan. A plate also covers the reverse of the card, which extends further back for the support bracket.

Display outputs on the XStorm are taken care of by two DVI ports, one HDMI and one DisplayPort output. The card has already begun to retail in China, but it is unknown whether the rest of the world will see it. Images source — VideoCardz.com
