Corsair Crystal Series 680X RGB Review

Building on a foundation of the highly sort after 280X, Corsair has brought to us the latest edition to the Crystal Series in the 680X. Not only is it bigger than the 280X; offering E-ATX board support, but it allows more radiator and fan options among other improvements.

The Crystal Series 680X isn’t just a blown up 280X, rather it’s a refinement of that idea for 2019. Changes include, but aren’t limited to USB Type-C connectivity and a single 3.5mm mic/headphone jack for the front panel IO panel. This panel has been moved to a more aesthetically pleasing location. This new position is better visually, but in terms of access perhaps not as convenient That said, I’m partial to this IO panel placement. (280X on the left, 680X on the right)

There are other changes here which are related to the 680X simply catering to larger builds. These include the use of three fans instead of two, more case cabling cut outs, more fan and radiator placement options and of course longer GPU support. It’s due to these form factor differences and general design improvements which make the Crystal Series 680X even more alluring than it’s forebearer.
