EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Hits 1,848 MHz Core Speed
The MSI Radeon HD 7970 Lightning recently achieved a core speed of 1,800 MHz using 1.7v, the highest GPU clock speed ever accomplished… Until now. Using an EVGA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, K|ngp|n managed an incredible 1,848 MHz GPU speed using 1.212v and an EVGA EPower board soldered in place. This resulted in a 3DMark 11 score of P14,912 points.
While slightly behind the MSI Radeon HD 7970 Lightning’s score of P15,035 points, the GeForce GTX 680 is a lower caliber card having less power phases and a much narrower memory bus. Interestingly, the memory speed was reported to be left at its stock speed which can contribute to the lower 3DMark score. The rig supporting the card consisted of Core i7-3960X processor clocked at around 5.5 GHz and memory running at 2,400 MHz CL 10-11-11-31. Source — VR-Zone
