NVIDIA Reflections Demo

Reflections is a tech demo released by NVIDIA to show the effects of real-time ray tracing. Although the demo can run on GTX 10- and 16-series cards, it really needs the ray tracing cores of an RTX card. On anything less, performance is absolutely dismal. Testing was done with Windows scaling set to 100 %, down from the laptop’s default of 125 %. The demo cannot be run at lower than 1920×1080 with scaling at 100 %.

AC Power

While plugged in, the GIGABYTE AERO 15 CLASSIC-XA scored an average of 24 FPS. Even though it’s an RTX series card, it shows just how heavy real-time ray tracing can be on a card. The minimum frame rate seen was 23 FPS, so speeds were consistent.

Battery Power

Once unplugged, the laptop scored an average of 19 FPS and minimum of 15 FPS. As it is just a tech demo and there are no changeable quality settings, you cannot increase above these numbers.
