Intel Core i7-4770K Overclocked To Over 7GHz
As with almost any modern-day hardware release, we see more and more leaked information and performance results as we get closer to launch day. Intel’s upcoming “Haswell” microarchitecture is no different, and today we see a CPU-Z validation of a Core i7-4770K overclocked all the way to 7012.65 MHz by overclocker “rtiueuiurei.”
Several things stand out in the screenshot above, such as the very low BCLK of 90.07 MHz and very high multiplier of 77.0x. On Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge there was a very limited range of stability surrounding the BCLK, and downclocking it more than a few MHz resulted in a system which didn’t boot. Ivy Bridge offered a maximum CPU multiplier of 63.0x, meaning that the multiplier limit has also been increased.
The core voltage of 2.56V shown in CPU-Z is most likely a bug as the 22 nm transistors used in Haswell are identical to those found in Ivy Bridge, which are known not to be tolerant of voltages in excess of around 2V. No other system information was shown other than the system using a single stick of DDR3 memory. Source — ocaholic
