NVIDIA Could Release Two New Titan SKUs
On 24 April this year, AMD is set to release the “Malta” Radeon HD 7990 dual GPU graphics card. Pricing is not yet known, but if AMD gets the performance-to-price ratio just right it could force NVIDIA to release new GeForce GTX Titan SKUs based on the “Kepler” GK110 silicon.
It is speculated that NVIDIA will release two new SKUs in the form of a slightly lower spec’d GTX Titan LE and slightly higher spec’d GTX Titan Ultra, or GTX Titan II. The GK110 core seen on current Titan graphics cards fourteen of the fifteen streaming multiprocessor clusters (SMX) enabled, each of which consists of 192 CUDA cores and 16 TMUs.
The Titan LE is rumoured to be a mildly cut down version of the full Titan with thirteen of the fifteen SMX units enabled for a CUDA core count of 2496 and 208 TMUs, 40 ROPs (compared to the 48 seen on the Titan), and 5120 MB (5 GB) of GDDR5 memory on a 320-bit interface. Clock speeds on the LE should remain the same as those seen on the Titan.
The Titan Ultra/Titan II is said to make full use of the GK110 core, having all fifteen SMX units enabled for a total of 2880 CUDA cores and 240 TMUs. Clock speeds will most likely be increased to about 950 MHz on the GPU and an effective 6.40 GHz on the memory to further the gap between it and the current Titan, up from the Titan speeds of 876 MHz and 6.00 GHz respectively.
Expected pricing for the SKUs is US $599-699 for the GTX Titan LE and over $1000 for the GTX Titan Ultra/GTX Titan II. Source — 3dcenter
