OCZ Vertex 5 SSD Coming Soon, Could De-Throne Vector As Flagship Model
OCZ is due to release its fifth generation of Vertex SSD, the Vertex 5, towards the end of May. The drive will be available in three or four capacities – 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and possibly 64 GB, although we will soon see 128 GB SSDs replacing 64 GB models at the bottom end.
The Vertex 5 will probably use the same high-speed Barefoot 3 controller seen in the Vector range, and could very well be the return of Vertex name as the company’s flagship SSD. The SSD should use 20 nm MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory chips made by a third party. Source — NordicHardware
